NJ Attorney General Announces Ban on Synthetic Marijuana

On February 29, 2012, the NJ Attorney General announced an Order of the Division of Consumer Affairs, banning the manufacture, distribution, sale and possession of any of the hundreds of variants of dangerous, manmade chemicals designed to mimic the effects of marijuana, commonly knows as "synthetic marijuana," "K2," or "Spice." The Order bans 10 classes of synthetic compounds, including all known or unknown variants of the drugs that would fall within each class, and any synthetic chemical that mimics the effects on the brain of the active ingredient in marijuana.

These chemicals are now listed as Schedule 1 Controlled Dangerous Substances in New Jersey.
