Do You Know ....

what fentanyl is?

Law enforcement agencies across the US are reporting increased seizures of fentanyl and acetyl-fentanyl, sometimes combined with heroin.

Fentanyl is a Schedule II synthetic opioid that is approximately 50-100 times more potent than morphine. Fentanyl, in powder form, may resemble cocaine, while pharmaceutical fentanyl is produced as a tablet, patch, or liquid. Fentanyl and fentanyl analogues, such as acetyl-fentanyl, depress the central nervous system and respiratory function. Exposure to fentanyl may be fatal; as little as 250 micrograms (0.25 mg), the size of a few grains of table salt, can cause death due to its rapid rate of absorption through the skin or by inhalation.
